Dorothy was the kind of woman who could light up a room with her smile and her caring spirit - a product of her midwestern upbringing. As evidence, she was voted Best Personality by her high school class — and anyone who knew her would tell you that wasn't just a vote. It was simply the truth.
Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who dedicated her life to her family and to the people around her. She was a beloved friend and an adventurous traveler. She found joy in helping others and was gracious in her giving — whether in time, friendship, or love.
Luther grew up in the Bronx before enlisting in the United States Army. Serving for 27 years, he completed three tours of duty in Vietnam and one in Korea as a decorated paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division. A recipient of numerous combat medals, Luther was, in every sense of the word, a soldier.

After raising their children and settling into a slower life of retirement and traveling, they built a home at 616 - a new base to help care for their grandchildren. They lived at 616 for more than 30 years. They filled it with love, laughter and an open door for anyone who needed it. They were married for nearly 65 years.
House SixSixteen is named for that home. And everything we pour is an act of gratitude for everything they gave us.
